Share your experience of detention
The project records accounts from people who were held in Vietnam: in prisons, pre-trial detention centres, compulsory education centres or other places of detention. Tell as much or as little as you like, skip any question, and stop whenever you want.
The three forms themselves are still in Vietnamese; an English version is being prepared.
Who can share
Anyone who was held, at any time. Relatives and witnesses can also share; when you do, please say what you went through yourself, what you saw, and what you heard from others.
How accounts are used
The project team reads each account and compares it with others. An account is published only if you agree to publication; agreeing to send it to the project is not agreeing to publish it. Before publication, names are replaced with pseudonyms and identifying details are changed or removed.

Write your account →How your data is stored and who sees it
- You do not need to give your real name. To send through the chat or the writing form you need an account so the project can contact you; use an address or number that feels safe.
- Accounts are stored on the project's servers. The project team can read them; nothing appears on the site until you agree to publication.
- In the AI chat, what you send is processed by AI software to ask the next question and is saved so the project team can read it. If you send voice, the recording is transcribed by an OpenAI service.
- The page removes location (GPS) and capture-time data from photos before uploading. Photos are stored with the project's image service; anyone with a photo's direct link can open it, so avoid photos showing faces or documents with names.
- No system is perfectly secure. If telling your story could put you or your family at risk, leave out details or choose an in-person interview.
